The Field of Memory: Cultural Memory in Tang Dynasty Leyouyuan Poetry

This paper explores the cultural significance of Leyouyuan-themed poetry in the Tang Dynasty from three perspectives. Firstly, in terms of material significance, Tang poets preserved the remnants of Leyouyuan through their poetry, creating the distinctive regional characteristics of Leyouyuan. Their depictions of natural scenery and palace architecture on Leyouyuan unconsciously transformed it into a symbolic and carrier of historical memory. Secondly, in terms of functional significance, Leyouyuan possesses rich and unique historical memories, including the festive joy, solemnity of temple activities, and cultural exchanges between China and foreign lands. These activities are presented in the space of Leyouyuan, recorded by Tang poets, thus activating complex and multidimensional collective memories. Thirdly, in terms of symbolic significance, the emotional attachment to Leyouyuan presented in Tang poetry highlights the timeless charm of Leyouyuan, becoming an unconscious collective abode. The symbolic significance of Leyouyuan as the “field of memory” is further emphasized.

Research on the Effects of Doping

The background of this essay is that many athletes start to use illegal drugs to increase their physical ability. Many athletes tend to take a lot of drugs in order to enhance their physical performance, so the main topic that this essay wants to focus on is the pros and cons of using some drugs. Especially the positive or negative effects on athletes’ physical health. This research mainly includes several pieces of information from academic websites, books, and newspapers. The research data is collected from academic websites. The five important words of this essay are “athletics, pros, cons, medicine or drug, effect of drug.” The conclusion of this research is that medication can have irreversible effects on athletes, especially with huge pressure on the heart, and excessive medication can also mitigate the age of athletes, leading to early retirement. What athletes really need to do is improve their skills rather than using fraudulent means to improve their performance, which also leads to unfair competition for other athletes who have not taken medication.

The Rise of E-Sports: The Transformation from Leisure Entertainment to a Global Sports Phenomenon

This study investigates the role of cultural and economic factors in the development and perception of eSports, particularly examining how these elements influence its recognition as a legitimate sport and the redefinition of athleticism. A quantitative methodology was employed, involving a survey of 20 members from a gaming club in an educational institution. The survey revealed gender-based differences in the perception of eSports, notably in the economic impact, with female participants attributing greater significance to this aspect than their male counterparts. However, there was consensus across genders regarding eSports’ cultural significance and legitimacy as a sport. The findings indicate a predominant influence of cultural factors in shaping the perception of eSports, overshadowing economic aspects, a contrast to traditional sports where economic considerations often play a pivotal role. The study contributes to understanding the intricate dynamics within the eSports domain, providing insights for stakeholders in shaping policies and marketing strategies.

Study of Urban Image in Chinese-American Films from the Perspective of the Other: A Case Study of The Farewell

This paper aims to investigate urban images in Chinese-American films from the perspective of The Other. Kevin Lynch linked urban spaces with human values, constructing a normative theory of the city that holds significant importance in studying urban images. However, current scholarly attention towards urban images in Chinese-American films is relatively scant, and research into the cultural value meanings behind these images is also limited. The Farewell (2019), directed by Chinese-American filmmaker Lulu Wang (1983-), is a film shot with an all-Asian cast, depicting a heartwarming story between generations in Changchun, China. Drawing on Lynch’s The Image of the City, this paper undertakes a deep exploration of the urban image of Changchun depicted in this film. It analyzes the readability of the urban image of Changchun through five elements: paths, edges, districts, nodes, landmarks, and further explores the cultural connotations behind the urban image in Chinese-American films. This paper argues that The Farewell has not fully escaped the constraints of orientalism, presenting Changchun as still adhering to an oriental symbol catering to Western curiosity as The Other.

Gender Qualities and Campus Bullying: Psychological Causes and Social Ecology Behind the “Rose Boy”

In April 2000, "Rose Boy" Ye Yongzhi died due to bullying by his classmates for his unique gender identity. Although the Ye Yongzhi incident has drawn increasing attention to the seriousness of gender identity discrimination and campus bullying, the phenomenon of "gender bullying" still exists today. In this study, the author conducted a questionnaire survey of 100 male youths in mainland China who had experienced or were currently experiencing campus bullying to clarify the current status of campus bullying and gender bullying in mainland China, and conducted statistics on the forms, reasons, solutions, and impacts of bullying. On this basis, this paper adopts a social-psychological perspective to explore the social psychological causes behind "gender temperament bullying". On the one hand, adolescents may develop stereotypes about gender temperament due to prejudice. On the other hand, adolescents may exhibit irrational group behavior under the influence of "deindividuation". In addition, "obeying authority" is also one of the reasons why some teenagers join the ranks of bullies. Finally, this paper elaborates on the deeper macro-social ecology behind social psychology, such as the influence of traditional gender role beliefs on parents' expectations and requirements for their children in traditional Chinese families; most schools in China fail to provide comprehensive and scientific gender education courses, lacking in-depth exploration and correct guidance on gender issues; the administrative and judicial departments have not sufficiently punished and prevented campus bullying; the whole society's attention to campus bullying and gender discrimination also needs to be improved.

International Wrongfulness of Japan's NCW Sea Discharge

When the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan experienced a significant accident in 2011, a significant volume of nuclear-contaminated water (NCW) was produced throughout the accident treatment procedure. The Japanese government decided to release 1.25 million tons of NCW into the ocean from storage tanks on April 13, 2021. On August 4, 2023, Japan formally initiated the discharge of NCW into the sea. Japan's discharge of NCW is closely related to the protection of marine ecology and human health and safety, and this move has triggered major concerns and strong dissatisfaction among various stakeholder countries. In terms of the details of the decision process related to TEPCO's discharge program announced by the Japanese government, the Japanese government is suspected of violating relevant international law obligations. In this paper, we will identify the international treaties, principles of international law, and international customary law that can regulate Japan's discharge of NCW from the sources of international law, and analyze the jurisprudence of international law related to nuclear accidents to determine the illegality of Japan's discharge of NCW into the sea.

The Practice of International Investment Agreements in the Context of Climate Change Conflicts and Solutions

Climate change is an issue of growing importance on a global scale. The traditional International Investment Agreements (IIAs) and the provisions made in response to climate change often conflict with one another. This has led to a need to find a way to reconcile these differences and establish a complementary and mutually reinforcing relationship between IIAs and climate change treaties. This paper aims to identify the focal points of conflict and explore potential solutions through case analysis and other methods. One potential solution is to make reasonable adjustments to the IIAs to align them with the specific provisions needed to address climate change. By doing so, it may be possible to bridge the gap between traditional IIAs and the requirements of climate change treaties. This approach is essential in ensuring that investment agreements do not hinder the progress of climate change initiatives. It is crucial to find a balance that allows for sustainable economic development while also addressing the pressing concerns of climate change. Finding a way to reconcile the conflicts between traditional IIAs and climate change treaties is of paramount importance. By making targeted adjustments and seeking common ground, it is possible to establish a framework that supports both economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Childhood Trauma and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders: A Comprehensive Study from Root Causes to Intervention

Anxiety disorders represent a widespread psychological challenge, with a notably increased risk among adolescents and early adults who have experienced childhood trauma. This study synthesizes existing knowledge on the origins, classification, and emergence of anxiety disorders, underscoring the significant role of childhood trauma. The etiology of anxiety disorders is multifactorial, entwining genetic predispositions with environmental stressors. Familial patterns and neurochemical dysregulations, particularly concerning serotonin and dopamine, are implicated in their pathogenesis. Empirical evidence points to both genetic and neurobiological factors, including emotional processing abnormalities and neurophysiological deviations, as influential in the manifestation of anxiety disorders. Additionally, environmental aspects like childhood trauma and sustained stress are confirmed as pivotal in exacerbating these disorders. Extensive examinations demonstrate a persistent and affirmative association between the emergence of anxiety-related illnesses and childhood trauma. These traumatic experiences contribute to psychiatric vulnerabilities, notably in anxiety and depressive disorders. Moreover, maladaptive coping mechanisms resulting from early trauma, such as substance misuse, may indirectly escalate anxiety and depressive symptoms, compounding the individual's struggle with stress and anxiety. The evidence establishes a stark connection between childhood trauma and anxiety disorders, advocating for targeted prevention and intervention strategies. The study also calls for nuanced future research, particularly across diverse cultural backgrounds, to enhance the understanding and treatment of anxiety disorders. These insights carry significant weight for educational, therapeutic, and familial interventions, promoting a proactive stance on childhood trauma's psychological aftermath.

Research on the Transboundary Environmental Damage Caused by the Discharge of Nuclear Wastewater in Japan

Neighboring nations voiced severe protests when Japan unilaterally declared on August 23, 2023, that it intended to release radioactive effluent stockpiled since the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011 into the ocean. Japan clearly breaches international law by acting in a way that is contrary to its duties for reasonable risk prevention, notification, and transboundary environmental impact assessment. In the international community, the question of transboundary injury accountability and compensation has long been of concern. International conventions addressing transboundary pollution are mostly framework agreements with soft law provisions, which means that their substantive impact on contracting parties' behavior is minimal. This article examines the national and personal obligations that the party in control of this nuclear wastewater discharge should have by combining concepts of international law, including the principle of attribution, state sovereignty, and international environmental protection. It examines the characteristics of international transboundary damage liability and compensation schemes from the standpoint of governments taking on international environmental responsibility.

Strategic Interactions in College Students’ Romantic Relationships: Exploring the Dynamics Through Game Theory

With the improvement of living standards, people's attention to intimate relationships is also increasing. This article takes the love relationship of college students as an example and uses game theory methods to analyze some phenomena in intimate relationships. The article first introduces the basic concepts and theories of game theory, and then explores the game problems in college students' love relationships from aspects such as Nash equilibrium and prisoner's dilemma. Research has found that there are multiple Nash equilibria in the game of college students in romantic relationships, but the existence of prisoner's dilemma often leads to difficulties in achieving optimal decision-making between lovers. And research has found that the existence of irrationality and the strategy of tit for tat encourage both regions to take proactive measures to handle conflicts. In infinite games, the larger the discount factor, the more likely both sides are to choose a positive way to handle conflicts. Finally, this article proposes some suggestions to help college students better handle game problems in romantic relationships.

Explore the Influence of E-commerce Live Broadcast on Consumers' Purchase Intention: Based on the Motivational Psychology Theory

E-commerce online live shopping has become intricately woven into the fabric of people's daily lives. This study adopts empirical statistical research methods to identify factors influencing consumers' purchase intentions within the realm of e-commerce live broadcasting. Drawing upon the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model and motivational psychological theory, a comprehensive model for consumer purchase intentions in the context of e-commerce live streaming is formulated. Users' perceived interactivity, perceived content quality, and perceived trust in live streamers are taken as antecedent variables, and users' emotional motivation and cognitive motivation are taken as intermediate variables. Use the user's purchase intention as the result variable. Assume that the three anthems positively affect the two intermediate variables, and the two intermediate variables positively affect the outcome variables. After a series of data analyses, all the proposed hypothesis studies are valid. In other words, the interaction of users' perception of live broadcasts when watching e-commerce, the quality of content, and their trust in live streamers will positively affect users' emotional motivation and cognitive motivation, and the emotional motivation and cognitive motivation generated by users will also positively affect users' purchase intention. There are mediating effects between affective motivation and cognitive motivation in the hypothesis model.
