Paying Attention to the Online Learning Environment: The Importance of a Low-noise Environment

The learning environment has been recognized as an important factor affecting the quality of offline learning. The existing literature demonstrates that the learning environment also has an impact on online learning and it is more influential than most factors. Due to the flexibility of the learning environment, both the positive and negative effects on online learning are magnified compared to offline learning. Noise is a vital component of the learning environment. The research results of multiple scholars show that noise has adverse effects on learners' physiology and psychology, and the negative effects of noise on learning efficiency cannot be ignored. With regard to the impact of noise on online learning, noise can lower the quality of online learning by impairing the learner's reading ability, memory capacity and maths and literacy ability. Especially, the noise of the online learning environment is more uncontrollable than offline learning, which magnifies the negative impact of noise on learning efficiency. Finally, this paper makes recommendations for learners, teachers and schools respectively, like using noise-canceling headphones or earplugs and removing noise sources in advance.

Research on the System of Interpretation of the Basic Law of Hong Kong

The Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (PRC) is implemented within the framework of the law rule, which is closely related to the Basic Law interpretation mechanism. It is stipulated in the Basic Law that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) has the authority of interpretation, and the Standing Committee of the NPC authorizes Hong Kong (HK) courts to have the power of interpretation when trying cases. Under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, the common law goes on to be adopted in HK according to the Basic Law provisions. Therefore, that Law combines the background of the socialist law mechanism with Chinese features as well as the common law mechanism. The interaction and coordination between the two is an important issue in its implementation. This paper provides an overview of HK Basic Law interpretation system, and provides an overall review of the five interpretations of the National People's Congress Standing Committee since the construction of HK Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). It analyzes differences in legal interpretation rules between the two regions, and explores the connection and coordination between the two interpretation mechanisms of the NPC Standing Committee and HK courts.

Critical Analysis of the Correlation Between Sport Events and Environment

The four levels of sport and environment interface: total control of environmental conditions, partial control, framed environmental conditions, and no control of the environment all influence the environment and condition of the sports that are played. As sports activities become more and more popular, more and more countries and organizations join sports activities. Sports activity is also increasingly harmful to the environment. Sports activities, for example, competition and training will all require a lot of traveling, which will heavily influence the environment. Therefore, in the long run, whether the event organizers should change the layout of the sports and how to arrange the sports games efficiently will become a question. The earth is already overwhelmed, the global climate is warming, and the Arctic glaciers are melting at an accelerated rate. Some countries have even been hit by typhoons. With the increasing occurrence of extreme weather, players and organizers have realized the importance of this issue and have started to take action during sports events. This research paper shows that the organizers have slowly changed the format of the competitions with more environmental concerns and protections. In this way, the government, organizers, and even players as well as the audiences start to contribute to the actions and solutions.

The Role of Empathy in Peer Relationships During Childhood and Adolescence

Empathy holds pivotal significance in fostering favorable peer engagements throughout the phases of childhood and adolescence. Although there is a large body of literature that addresses this issue, studies undertaken with children and adolescents have shown inconclusive results about the correlation between empathy and peer relationships. Various measures of peer relationships (such as peer attachment, friendships, and peer acceptability) and empathy (including affective and cognitive empathy, perspective-taking, and Theory of Mind) all contributes to challenges in reaching definitive conclusions. Hence, the association between peer relationships and empathy in children and adolescents remains unclear. Current work seeks to (a) provide an overview of how empathy is commonly conceptualised and quantified in child development and adolescent research, and (b) address pressing difficulties with empathy research in both child development and adulthood. It indicates the distinct roles played by affective and cognitive empathy in different constructs of peer interactions and prosocial behaviours. Additionally, the relationship between empathy and various aspects of peer relationships shows variation between genders and by using different measurements. We conclude by offering suggestions for future research on (a) distinguishing different aspects of empathy; (b). providing a more comprehensive framework of empathy; (c). examining the mediating role of gender in association between empathy and peer relationships.

By studying the revision process of Taiwan’s same-sex marriage law and the value game behind it, this paper deeply analyzes the current situation of same-sex marriage in China and puts forward some suggestions. Across the globe, more and more countries and territories have legalized same-sex marriage. Even in China, acceptance of homosexuality is rising sharply. In this paper, some problems of discrimination against homosexuals and how to solve them are also raised. The challenges facing same-sex marriage in China also point to a lack of legal support. Therefore, the protection of homosexual crimes should be strengthened, and social problems such as sexual orientation discrimination should be prohibited.

Why Has Italy Struggled So Much to Grow Economically Since 1990?

Italy is one of the world’s major economies, but it is also one of the most struggling major economies in terms of economic development. Especially after 1990, the Italian economy has faced a state of stagnation for a long time, and there has been no sign of improvement until now. The theme of this article is the reason for Italy’s economic struggle after 1990. Low exports, low domestic demand, and a manufacturing slump are the reasons that led to the Italian economic struggle. Low exports stemmed from joining the Eurozone and the capture of international markets by other countries. Low domestic demand was hit by the double blow of Eurozone accession and high unemployment caused by a closed labour market. And the dormancy of the manufacturing sector is related to the unemployment problem caused by the closed labour market and the lack of domestic demand. Insufficient exports, low aggregate demand, and a weak manufacturing sector are the three main reasons for the economy’s poor performance, which has led Italy to remain a struggling economy for more than 30 years.

Standardization of the Application Rules for Presumption in Aiding Cybercrime - From the Perspective of 1345 Judgments

The crime of aiding cybercriminal activities has shown an explosive growth trend in recent years, evolving to the risk of becoming a “pocket crime”. To address the existing challenges and issues with this crime, it is crucial to clarify the connotation and denotation of “knowingly” within the context of this crime and establish a set of relatively standardized and rational inference rules. Through a criminal law analysis of the term “knowingly”, judicial pathway reviews, and academic theory reflections, the term should be understood as “know” or “clearly know”. This interpretation aims to limit judicial scope and alleviate the pressure on the judicial system. The construction of a standardized set of inference rules for “knowingly” in the context of aiding cybercrime is both necessary and rational. Scholars, both domestic and international, have presented relevant theories, with the current trend favoring an objective-oriented approach complemented by subjective evaluation. After analyzing over a thousand case studies and combining related thoughts, the author proposes a “Weighted Scoring Rule” and offers several recommendations concerning the current judicial system’s institutional design.

Exploring the Training Path of Music Teacher Education on Professionalism

Music education is the unity of the practical activity of music and the practice of education, and has a dual character. In school music education, the practical activities of music have the characteristics of presentational and expressive; the practical activities of education have the characteristics of goal and normative. For a long time, due to the ambiguous understanding of the dual nature of music education practice, it has led to insufficient integration of the music and education disciplines, unclear pathways for music teacher education and training, and little effectiveness in teaching and learning. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the characteristics of their respective disciplines on the basis of finding a point of integration of the disciplines and realizing the integration and unification of the two, so as to improve the mechanism of music teacher education and training.

AI Tutor: Solution for China’s Disadvantaged and Under-resourced Children

This academic paper delves into the pressing issue of educational disparities in China, particularly focusing on the challenges faced by disadvantaged and under-resourced children, including both migrant and left-behind children. The paper underscores the socioeconomic and geographical complexities that exacerbate these disparities, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions. It then introduces the transformative potential of AI tutors, leveraging recent advancements in large language models (LLMs), to bridge the educational gap. The study highlights the significant impact of migration on children's access to education, with rural-to-urban migration patterns creating hurdles for migrant children to secure enrollment in urban schools. Additionally, it sheds light on the plight of left-behind children, who face emotional challenges and limited educational resources in rural settings. The paper introduces AI tutors, particularly ChatGPT-based Khanmigo, as innovative solutions that can offer personalized educational support, generate educational materials, assist teachers, and even evaluate student work. It discusses the advantages of these AI tutors, such as cost-effectiveness and accessibility, and their potential to democratize education. However, the paper also acknowledges the limitations of AI tutors, particularly in areas requiring creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence. It raises concerns about exacerbating educational inequality if high-quality human educators become exclusive to the privileged, leaving disadvantaged children reliant on AI-based solutions.

Heidegger’s Theory on Anxiety and Death’s Significance in the Background of Suicide among the East Asian Adolescents

As a philosopher who has had a significant influence on modernity, Heidegger's theories have been discussed by people from different periods and countries. However, this paper focuses on adolescents in East Asian countries and explores the significance of his views on anxiety and death for them. Given the cultural background of Confucianism and Taoism in East Asian countries, and taking into account the development of East Asian countries in the last half century, Heidegger's theories provide an explanation for the higher suicide rate among East Asian adolescents. They fall in the conformities that society invites them to obey, and reject with death a life with no alternative possibilities. At the same time, however, Heidegger's view has certain limitations and deficiencies in the present. Young people rebel against philosophies promoting uniformity and require a theory to navigate their particular complexities and dilemmas. Heidegger's philosophy can aid our comprehension of young people's current situation and requirements in East Asia.
