The Study of the Practical Effects of Background Music in TikTok Short Videos

This paper analyses and explores the Real Effects of background music on the user experience by studying the effect of background music in short videos on TikTok, analyses the relationship between BGM and video fit from the audience’s point of view, and puts forward more effective suggestions for the use of TikTok’s background music strategies and methods. Most articles only focus on the favourable aspects of the background music or only carry out the traditional sound and picture analysis without considering the Real Effects of the background music from the audience’s point of view. This study is based on the intuitive feelings of the users of the TikTok platform (including a small number of creators or creators using it) through the design of questionnaires. The respondents discuss the four main factors of using background music in their favourite fields: usage frequency, usage mode, usage effect and usage feeling, to improve further the previous research on the effect presentation of the background music of TikTok short videos, to form a more complete analytical framework, and to provide a richer perspective of analysis. There are also some flaws in this study. For example, the small sample size of the questionnaire, the concentrated age range, and the fact that the data do not fully cover all situations may affect the final conclusions of this paper. Therefore, the conclusions of this paper and the improvement measures provided in this research only provide a preliminary analytical framework and reference for future research on similar pathways.

However, despite the fact that niche cultures were born to meet the specific needs of different groups of people, the author discovered that many of the literary symbols used in the cultural products that are well received by consumers have something in common, such as drawing on historical events and mapping realistic symbols, characterisation of symbols that rebel against stereotypes and status, seeking the most idealised story structure within a realist framework like romanticised symbolic representations of violent means. This reminds the author that the similarity of literary symbols in niche cultures may have something to do with real life social environment and other morre realistic reasons. Therefore, in this study, the author will focus on social modelling and characterisation of the niche cultures to explore the similarities of literary symbols used for social modelling and characterisation in niche cultures, using observational method, documentary research method and Information research methods.

Opportunities and Challenges Brought by Short Videos to Traditional Media

With the popularity of various mobile devices, short videos have attracted much attention as a new form of media due to their relatively low threshold and more flexible reporting style. Traditional media is facing a strong challenge from new media, one of the signs being that long videos are being replaced by short and concise, yet more diverse, short videos. The emergence and popularity of short videos imply that traditional media is facing intensified market competition, which has prompted many traditional media outlets to make changes in content production and distribution methods to adapt to the changing landscape. Therefore, short videos not only bring challenges to traditional media, but also unlimited development opportunities. In terms of content and distribution channels, while new media is impacting traditional media, it also brings new ideas, prompting traditional media to accelerate its transformation by focusing on optimizing content production and expanding distribution channels. On the other hand, the rise of new media has also led traditional media to pay attention to its development, making deep collaboration and integration between the two possible, further providing audiences with high-quality audiovisual experiences. For both viewers and the development of traditional media in the era of media convergence, the emergence of new media undoubtedly serves as a catalyst.

Psychological Influence of Covid-19 Pandemic on Chinese Infants and Toddlers

While the Covid-19 pandemic brings a brutal hit to social members, it also affects child development. Nevertheless, there is still a research gap about how the pandemic has influenced Chinese infants’ and toddlers’ development. Under such a circumstance, this quantitative research aims to identify and evaluate the psychological influence exerted by the pandemic. Based on practical developmental screening tools such as ASQ®-3 and ASQ®: SE-2, the survey was oriented to 9 participants in their infancy or early childhood from Baby Friendly East, a China-based early childhood education organization. The descriptive analysis of these survey takers’ scores and the thematic analysis of their parents’ interviewee responses reveal crucial findings: 1) the pandemic has exerted negligible influence on five aspects related to ASQ®-3; 2) the pandemic obviously adverse influence on the seven areas of social-emotional development; and 3) interviews oriented to parents of sampled infants and toddlers underlined specific ways for the pandemic to take effect on child development, including changes in family environment and parent-kid bond, reduction in outdoor activities, and emotional regulations and children’s susceptibility to sleep problems. These findings are supposed to bring positive implications for policy makers, communities and parents to work out feasible and effective interventions to offset negative pandemic-related influence on infants’ and toddlers’ development.

Interests and Responsibilities: Multiple Subjects and Their Normative Settings in Engineering Ethics

The complexity of modern engineering makes engineering increasingly become a collective activity, and the multiple subjects involved are constantly being highlighted. When engineering risks occur, it is often impossible to attribute all the responsibilities to a specific person, especially when researching to maximize profits. Engineering activities face more significant risks and challenges. Engineering ethics research addresses the ethical challenges and dilemmas engineers encounter in their professional practice. However, existing research methods and models may not adequately capture the diversity and interdependence of the actors and factors involved in engineering projects. For this reason, it is urgent for engineering ethics research to build a research and decision-making model that can integrate multiple subjects and multiple disciplines to solve ethical problems in specific engineering practices. By doing so, this paper hopes to promote ethical awareness and responsibility among engineers and other stakeholders and to ensure that engineering activities can genuinely serve the common good of humanity.

Picture Perfect or Picture True: A Comparative Study on Social Media Profile Picture Presentation and Motivations for Use among Chinese and American from Cultural Perspective

This research explores the impact of cultural contexts on the choice and significance of social media avatars, focusing particularly on the contrasting behaviors of users in China and the United States, which represent the two largest global social media markets. Avatars, as visual representations of users online, offer a unique lens to examine implicit behaviors and self-perceptions, as they make manifest aspects of individuals’ identities that may remain concealed in traditional forms of communication. The disparities in avatar selection between these two cultures are striking: while US users predominantly opt for authentic photographs, Chinese users display a preference for idealized or virtual images, such as anime, animals, or landscapes, often employing filters and beautification tools when their own images are used. The aim of this study is to scrutinize these differences in avatar styles, analyzing how varying cultural definitions of the ‘self’ and differing value systems influence personal definition and expression. In-depth interviews with social media users from both countries were conducted to corroborate these theories and provide firsthand accounts of user experiences. The central conclusion of this research posits that the divergences in avatar choices between Chinese and American users are primarily driven by distinct cultural conceptualizations of the ‘self’ and the varying influence of societal values on self-definition in the two countries. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on the intersection of technology, culture, and identity, highlighting the role of social media as a platform for self-expression and cross-cultural understanding.

Research on Harbin Smart Community-based Elderly Care Services

Due to the rapid development of the aging population in Chinese society, the traditional service model of relying on the family as the unit of elderly care is currently unable to adapt to the needs of society. Therefore, the government proposes to activate the role of community-based organizations in elderly care services, and to provide intelligent social elderly care on a community basis and in conjunction with artificial intelligence platforms such as computers. The population aging situation in Northeast China is higher than the average level of population aging in China, and the penetration rate of computing and the Internet, such as artificial intelligence, is lower than that in other regions. Therefore, by means of the literature review and theoretical analysis, this paper chooses Harbin (Heilongjiang) as the research object, and mainly discusses the popularization of the intelligent community-based home elderly care service, as well as the solutions. The policy needs to popularize and train the service object in terms of technology in the process of implementation, so as to improve the degree of acceptance. In addition, the government needs to pay attention to the protection of information when popularizing intelligent community-based elderly care services to prevent problems such as information leakage that jeopardize the safety of the lives and property of elderly groups.
